Aaron Ott Wonderful direct and concise songs from
Andy on this album. Where in the past, there was more of an atmosphere and space set for songs that slowly sucked you in, this is more like watching him play live with an amazing band for a private show. The effect is equally compelling, and speaks deeply to that side of me that can’t get enough of those early 70’s Northern Cali folk groups that speak directly into your ear from their hearts with a gentle, but restless melody.

Trevor Coates such a solid album...each time I put it on while I am working, i get so much done and all of a sudden the album is over. Takes me on a journey each time. Favorite track: Swaying.

What’s this fantasy This long road calling me To who knows where Do I stay or go I mean well you know I’ve got to earn the life we share Give me one more chance One more song and dance To prove I care To prove I care What wouldn’t I dare To show you I need you so But the lilacs bloom Their sweet perfume and I have to go What’s this give and take All the strife it makes When they won’t pair Damn naïveté Is there any way To prove I care To prove I care To show love’s there How can I let you know When the roses bloom So strong, so soon Well I have to go What’s this fantasy This road in front of me To who knows where

Come take my hand Show me where the night begins Your summer song is catchy Now it’s in my head I’m here to find Where the answers end The two of us Palm trees in the wind Swaying Off the map Vacant scene, painted black Yeah but that’s alright We’re holding on to what we’ve got For now We’re here to find Where the answers end The two of us Palm trees in the wind Swaying On the wild side Flaunting what the timid hide The night all shook up, tempest-tossed The planet got away from us Still to find Where the answers end The two of us Palm trees in the wind Swaying

Once a songbird caught me by surprise With the strength of its singing A bright call took flight, pierced the air Like a lone bell a-ringing What’s past is past Wanted, never asked I don’t expect to get a second chance To choose my words as I mean to But I’d take it all back, I was wrong Now I know what you’ve been through What’s past is past Wanted, never asked A songbird’s shadow upon the lawn Lies in wait since you’re gone Sun sure falls fast No shadow cast What’s past is past Wanted, never asked

about

Vetiver San Francisco, California

Vetiver is the long running stage and recording name of San Francisco's Andy Cabic. Vetiver craft nuanced, understated songs that reward careful listening, building a rich duality; a space where sunshine is only a chord away from melancholy, an introspective lyric underlies an extroverted chorus and subtlety tries to be outgoing in an effort to connect the dots of life’s ellipsis. ... more
